The only son of Don Alejandro returns to 1820s California to fight the corrupt local military. He plays the foppish dandy by day and the masked swordsman Zorro who slashes "Z"s everywhere by night. His horses (black and white) are Tornado and Phantom.
Don Diego de la Vega opposes the corrupt tyrants of Spanish California as the masked swordsman, Zorro.
This show was a real treat, both on ABC from 1957 to 1959, and on the Disney Channel, with its blend of adventure and comedy. Excellent cast!<br/><br/>I am sorry that the series did not film further episodes, because it was superb. I saw it as a kid in syndication in 1965-66, and then again in 2002 on the Disney Channel.<br/><br/>&quot;Zorro&quot; had to have been the &quot;Batman&quot; of the late 1950s. Indeed, in the comic version of &quot;Batman&quot; it is Zorro whom Bruce Wayne considers his role model. After living in Texas and the Southwest, I can appreciate the series even more. I just wish Disney would bring it back, and that someone would revive the series. It was so interesting!
When i was younger my idol was Zorro with Guy Williams ( to me he is the real Zorro)<br/><br/>I ordered the whole series on DVD from France. I was very happy. But when i put the DVD in my machine it could not read the DVD because in France it is another zone.<br/><br/>I emailed my request to Walt Disney studios and they replied that they would send my request to the marketing dept. What does this mean ( maybe not much) I do not understand that if France could release the whole series on DVD and in colour. Why cannot the U.S. or Canada do the same. I saw at the store a film with Eroll Flyn (Robin Hood) from 1938 which is remastered and apparently very good. Zorro dates from 1957 so were is the problem. I&#39;m sure i am not the only Zorro fan.
